On Thursday 12th November the cadets of 173 (Orpington) Squadron were joined by a very special guest, Flt Lt Denis Elliott RAF (Rtd.).

Flt Lt Elliott joined 173 (Orpington) Squadron in October 1940 as part of the Air Defence Cadet Corps and saw in the transition to the Air Training Corps in January and February of 1941.

During the session Flt Lt Elliott told us a range of different stories from his time in the ADCC and ATC to how he joined the RAF and beyond!

It was cool to hear all the different stories that the flt lt had to tell. My favourite was his in basic training in the RAF when recruits were asked who had a Air Training Corps Certificate (proving that they knew the basics) and were sent off to polish the mess floor rather than practicing basic drill!

It was a huge privilege to be joined by Flt Lt Elliott RAF (Rtd.) and we hope to be able to host him at the squadron at some point in the near future.
