As the leader of a section, you are responsible for 7 other cadets, it’s your job to ensure that the task is carried out successfully.
This was the pressure shouldered by the 43 cadets from Kent Wing over the October half term as they deployed on Exercise Invicta Leader X at Salisbury Plains.

Exercise Invicta Leader is a advanced fieldcraft exercise with an emphasis on developing cadets leadership skills with tactical thinking; as they lead their cadets to success in a series of scenarios set by the supervising staff.

“Alpha” Flight discussing the importance of camouflage and concealment
“Bravo” Flight sentry on duty as reconnaissance party preps to move
Sentry briefing his Flight Commander
“Alpha” Flight sampling some Operational Ration Pack meals
“Bravo” Flight Commander briefing Supervising Adult Staff
Cadets of “Bravo” Flight relaxing in their harbour area

Led by experienced and qualified staff, all cadets first had the opportunity to learn and demonstrate their skills in camouflage and concealment, setting up a harbour area and section-level tactics such as patrolling; all while developing their communication, teamwork and leadership skills.
The exercise culminated in the cadets putting all they had learned to use during a blank firing exercise, a first for the Wing.
