Supporting the Festival of Flight at Biggin Hill

Every year since the Festival of Flight started, Air Cadets from around Kent and London have assisted with the running of the air show. They perform valuable duties across the airfield including guarding the static display aircraft and assisting airport officials in manning the taxi-way pedestrian crossing.

This weekend, cadets from all over Kent and London came to Biggin Hill to support the airshow in its sixth year.

Every year since the Festival of Flight started, Air Cadets from around Kent and London have assisted with the running of the air show. They perform valuable duties across the airfield including guarding the static display aircraft and assisting airport officials in manning the taxi-way pedestrian crossing.

The Festival of Flight commenced on Saturday 17th August with an impressive line-up despite the Red Arrows currently touring the United states of America and Canada. The Breitling Jet Team took the headline spot this year, opening the air displays alongside the Extra 300 Duo and the Flying Circus Wingwalkers.

The RAF have strong links with Biggin Hill and as always, the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight featured on both days of the airshow. This year the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane were joined by the Douglas C-47 Dakota ZA947. Showcasing the RAF’s current multi-role combat fighter was the RAF’s Typhoon Display Team and the newly formed Tucano Display Team showing off the capabilities of the RAF’s now out-of-service Basic Fast Jet Trainer.

Visiting as part of the Typhoon Display Team was also an ex cadet of Biggin Hill squadron, Flt Lt S Inch, who very kindly offered to give groups of cadets a special tour around the Typhoon.
