Cadets from 1579 (Erith) Squadron, along with thousands of members of the Armed Services, took to the capital`s Rail & Underground Stations on Thursday 29th October, in aid of this year`s London Poppy Day. The largest and most ambitious one-day street collecting event of its kind. The aim was to collect £1m in one day for this year`s Royal British Legion`s Poppy Appeal.

The cadets were located at Holborn Underground Station and collected from 08.00 – 20.00 hrs.  Early indications are that the station raised in excess of £8,000, and that £1m target has been met.  This is a magnificent achievement.  Officer Commanding Flt Lt Andrew Kelleher said ‘It was great to see cadets giving up their half term to come and support the event. The generosity of the great British public always amazes me.  The cadets received nothing but praise’.
