Bluewater Shopping Centre supported the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal campaign by hosting Kent’s launch of the Appeal on Sunday 26 October.

Bluewater have chosen the Legion as their charity of the year and the entire mall will be dressed in poppies for the two weeks of Remembrance, including a dramatic projection of the symbolic poppy on the cliffs surrounding Bluewater.

Beginning in the John Lewis car park, a parade of 150 people, including Standard Bearers, veterans, serving personnel, cadets, scouts and brownies joined in a procession around Bluewater,

Guests inside Bluewater experienced a surprise flash mob on the Thames Walk as part of the event. Devised and performed by local community dance group, Jestress Flo, the flash mob told the story of a young girl’s journey through the war and later life. The launch concluded with a performance by the Military Wives Choir from Brompton Barracks in Chatham followed by a spoken tribute and minute’s silence.
